AIDS/LifeCycle 2015

At the beginning of June, I did something kind of crazy. Over the course of 7 days, I rode my bicycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles, along with ~2300 other crazy people (way more, if you include all the amazing staff and support volunteers that made the ride possible for us ~2300 crazy people on bicycles). It was called AIDS/LifeCycle.

I had done the ride once before in 2009, when I lived in Los Angeles and I knew some folks who had done the ride in the past. At least this time I had an idea of what to expect.

I wasn't nearly prepared enough, and I had a rough week with shoulder problems starting the morning of day 2, but I did it. I rode every day, even if I didn't finish every day. And it was an absolutely amazing experience.

The best part of the ride, of course, is that this year's AIDS/LifeCycle raised over $16 million dollars to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center -- a new record for AIDS/LifeCycle.

I've already signed up for next year. Hopefully this time I'll be better prepared, and will be able to raise more money individually, but regardless, I know it'll be an awesome experience.
